Jonny


 

Jonny is a designer and experimental programmer with over 20 years of experience. He has taught on the Graphic arts and Design undergraduate programme since 2007.

Jonny has worked at various high-profile design agencies over the last two decades, combining his commercial practice with his research interests.

Some of the highlights include, working with UEFA creating a globally touring audio visual installation for the 50th anniversary of UEFA and working on commissioned pieces for the Central Illustration agency whilst working at Studio –dust.

More recently Jonny has set up Field (2011 – Present), a Sheffield based design practice with a focus on Education and Architecture. The studio primarily focuses on working with academic institutions including the University of Sheffield and Architecture practices.

Current Teaching

Jonny currently teaches on the second year of BA (Hons) Graphic Arts and Design. The focus of his teaching is design for print, experimental programming and digital moving image. This often touches upon data manipulation and hacking existing code.

Research Interests

Jonny is currently studying for an MPhil entitled ‘What is (can we create) a sense of place in a digital landscape?’. The research-by-practice enquiry aims to explore how our data is re-used and manipulated for existence beyond its original purpose.
